Muse discuss plans for 'The 2nd Law' album follow-up

Muse have revealed that they've already started discussing plans for their next studio album.
The band, who released their sixth studio album 'The 2nd Law' last September, have discussed what they've got planned for LP number seven, according to drummer Dominic Howard. He told Billboard: "Me and Matt (Bellamy) have just been tentatively talking about what we're doing to do, how we're we're going to do it, what we need to think about when we are going to do it - not really discussing musical ideas so much as just how we're going to approach it and when we're going to do it."
Despite thrashing out early talks over the record, the sticksman said it's likely to be some time before a new album surfaces. He added: We're going to be on the road for another year or 14 months or whatever it is, so we've still got loads of touring to do. We tend to feel like we need to finish touring one album before we start anything else rather than starting an album on the road. We like to finish a chapter and start afresh, so it'll be a couple of years, probably. But we're definitely thinking about it."
Muse recently revealed that they will be performing their track 'Supremacy' with a full orchestra and choir at this year's Brit Awards.
They are also set to return to the UK this summer for a four-date stadium tour. They kick off the shows at Coventry's Ricoh Arena on May 22, 2013, before playing a pair of dates at London's Emirates Stadium on May 25 and 26, and wrapping up at Manchester's Etihad Stadium on June 1.

Black Keys on success: 'Never feel like you’re entitled to it – because then you turn into a prick'

NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

The Black Keys have said they never feel entitled to success, no matter how hard they worked for it.

Speaking to Radio.com, drummer Patrick Carney said: "We’ve definitely worked hard, but a lot of bands have worked just as hard. You just have to feel really lucky. Never feel like you’re entitled to it – because then you just sort of turn into a prick."

The duo picked up five Grammy nominations this year, with singer and guitarist Dan Auerbach also picking up a solo nod for Producer of the Year. The band are also set to perform at the Grammys ceremony for the first time, which will take place in LA on February 11.

"It just so happens that in the last two or so years, a lot of things that we were never even on our radar happened, like getting gold and platinum records, winning Grammys, selling out MSG [Madison Square Garden], headlining festivals, " Carney said. "All that stuff, we never even thought was possible. When it happens, it’s really kind of surreal. We’re really grateful that it’s happened, but we don’t really understand how it happened or why it happened."

Black Keys are set to release their eighth album, the follow-up to 2011's 'El Camino' in late 2013.

Remember earlier this year when we shared with you an amazing collaboration between Adam Lambert and Cyndi Lauper of “Mad World” during a performance in New York City? Well, we just have even more amazing news to share with you. Lambert and Lauper were so great on stage and their chemistry was perfect. Their voices join incredibly well together. In fact, they were so good that they will most likely record the song together.

A source exclusively reveals:

“Adam and Cyndi talked after their performance. They want to record their duet of Mad World at the studio and release it. It’s just a project they want to do for fun.”

This is pretty cool news. We are most definitely excited to be able to buy a collaboration like this. Are y’all excited or what?

Lady Antebellum + Stevie Nicks collaborate on new CMT 'Crossroads' episode

NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

via glooce

Lady Antebellum will be joining forces with the rock-n-roll legend Stevie Nicks on an upcoming episode of CMT's Crossroads. Sharing the stage in Los Angeles, it will be a first-time collaboration for the Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter and Country trio, marking a significant event in music history. The episode is slated for later this year; no specific date has been set.

To put things into perspective, Nicks (writer of such massive classics as "Landslide" and "Rhiannon") is a multi-Grammy Award winner and Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Fleetwood's Rumors album is one of the best-selling collections of all time. Expanded and deluxe versions of the album are set for release on January 29.

Likewise, Lady A is one of the hottest Country groups on the scene with three studio albums to-date, moving a total of 11 million copies. The seven-time Grammy winners also have six No. 1 singles to their name and numerous other industry honors, including CMA Vocal Group of the Year. Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley will be dropping the lead single from a new album on Jan. 31.

Previously, Crossroads has featured such musical extravaganzas as Carrie Underwood and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, Mumford & Sons and Emmylou Harris and Jimmy Buffet and the Zac Brown Band. The once-in-a-lifetime series brings artists together from opposite ends of the spectrum to produce mind-blowing explosions.

Foals' Yannis Philippakis calls David Guetta 'an abomination

NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

via glooce

Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis has criticised producer David Guetta, saying his music is ruining hip-hop as well as the pop charts.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Philippakis said that while he understands the importance of "trashy culture" he could not accept Guetta and the "bullshit" music he makes.

"David Guetta is basically... it's not even something that really makes my blood boil because it is just bullshit. It is an abomination but there needs to be bad music around," he said. "You need Jilly Cooper novels and pulp, trashy culture. Plus, some people like shit music. I don't like David Guetta and I don't like that style. What bothers me more really is that a lot of hip-hop is being played over those backing tracks, and I find that a shame because I like hip-hop a lot."

Elaborating on this point, he added: "I can't listen to current hip-hop because the MCing isn't the skill of it anymore; it's more putting it over super-garish club tracks. If you compare it to what DJ Premier was doing in the early '90s and Rza with Wu-Tang, that's got real artistry and grit. When I don't hear that, it feels like hip-hop has lost something rather than progressed."

PSY's 'Gangnam Style' breaks YouTube Record. It's South Korean taking over the world

NEWS -CINEMA-MUSIC-CELEBRITY-WORLD

via glooce

PSYs "Gangnam Style" has just become the first video in the history of the Internet to reach and surpass one billion views.

This morning (Dec. 21), Psy's mega-hit reached this unprecedented milestone just 27 days after surpassing Justin Bieber's "Baby" as the most watched video on YouTube.

In the days after its breaking of the 803 million YouTube views record, "Gangnam Style" continued to have over 6.5 million views per day - that's 76.4 view per second.

In comparison to the second most popular video on the Internet, "Baby" likely won't cross the 1 billion view mark until late 2014, according to projections provided by Next Big Sound. Its decelerating view count currently hovers just above 300,000 per day, or only 3 views per second - a rate that is likely to continue to shrink.

Psy has gone on to become the platform's "top trending YouTube video in 2012."

"Gangnam Style" spent 5 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100, reaching the No. 1 spot before even debuting on the Hot 100. The track is now in its 15th week on the U.S.-based Hot 100, with 7 weeks spent in the No. 2 position, held from reaching the throne by Maroon 5's "One More Night"

For a time Gangnam Style was the most listened to song on streaming platforms such as Spotify, Rdio and Mog, holding the No. 1 spot on the On-Demand Songs chart for 5 weeks.

As YouTube has become as the number one place teens go to listen to new music, according to a Nielsen study, the platform has emerged as a revenue generator for many artists. What exactly does 1 billion views look like from an earnings standpoint? Using conservative estimates across several verticals, we can create a breakdown of "Gangnam Style" approximate earnings. At a reported rate of $2 for every 1,000 views, Gangnam generates $2,000,000 from YouTube alone. Factoring in 3.07 million $1.29 digital single downloads of "Gangnam Style" (according to Nielsen Soundscan), Psy brings in an estimated additional $3,960,000 from digital downloads and $50,000 in additional revenues generated from On-Demand streaming services such as Spotify, Rdio and Mog. Excluding additional revenues puts "Gangnam Style" an estimated $6.01 million in revenues from this recorded piece of music in just the 5 months the single has been out.

Undoubtedly, the greatest contributing factor to "Gangnam Style's" success were the fans who created covers and shared the songs with friends, helping the video to go viral. But the song also gained a lift from the exposure it received on radio and television. It garnered 519 million in cumulative audience, according to Nielsen BDS, over its 12-weeks-and-counting run on Hot 100 airplay. It peaked at No. 12 on the ranking the week of Oct. 27.

"Gangnam Style's" popularity afforded Psy a litany of opportunities to appear on television, both in the US and abroad. The appearances are as follows:
• MTV Video Music Awards
• ABC News
• Ellen DeGeneres (with Britney Spears)
• NBC Today Show (where he performed twice on the episode, first artist to ever do this)
• Saturday Night Live
• Ellen DeGeneres (twice)
• Chelsea Lately
• Jimmy Kimmel Live!
• The View
• American Music Awards
• Sunrise (Australia)
• The X Factor Australia
• MTV EMAs
• Performance at Buffalo Bills vs Seattle Seahawks halftime

This is just his in-person appearances - his music or video has also been featured on GLEE, Bill O'Reilly, CNN, etc; but not his actual self appearing.

And there is more to come. Look out for Psy performing on "Christmas In Washtington 2012" tonight on TBS and for new material via his newly-minted deal with Scooter Braun's Schoolboy Record and Universal Republic.
